Itinerary
The 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will begin at 8:00 AM on the first day when you meet your driver at your hotel or riad. Traveling through the High Atlas Mountains, you will pass through Tizi n’Tichka, Morocco’s highest road pass at 2,260 meters, offering breathtaking views of surrounding Berber villages, valleys, and mountains.
You will stop at the striking kasbah and well-preserved fortress of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on the way to Ouarzazate. This location has been featured in numerous Hollywood films, such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Game of Thrones.
Continuing onward, you will travel through the quaint Berber villages of Mgouna and Skoura on your way to Dades Valley. Enjoy a wonderful dinner and stunning views while spending the night in Dades Gorge.
From Todra Gorges, you will continue towards Merzouga, passing through breathtaking landscapes and numerous palm tree oases. You’ll pass through the small town of Erfoud, where you will feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet, before continuing to Merzouga. Depending on your arrival time, you may either relax before the camel trek or start it right away to spend the night in a Berber camp in the desert.
The camel trek typically begins around 5:00-6:00 PM, lasting about an hour. Upon arrival at the camp, you will marvel at the Sahara dunes and sunset. You will be welcomed with traditional Moroccan tea, followed by dinner in the main tent (restaurant). After dinner, enjoy desert music played by locals and a campfire.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes—an unforgettable experience , After breakfast, return by camel or 4×4 to the village of Merzouga. From there, you will take the road toward Agdez, passing through the Daraa Valley and into the Anti-Atlas Mountains. A lunch break will be in Ouarzazate. After lunch, continue your journey back to Marrakech.

After breakfast, we’ll start the last day of the 3 days Marrakech desert tour to Fes by travelling along the Ziz Valley. We will stop in a panoramic view. Lunch will be in Midelt, then continue driving, we might be able to catch a glimpse of the Barbary apes that live in the cedar forest of Azrou. Our next destination will be Ifrane, called also Switzerland of Morocco, we will have a stop here before we head to Fes and drop you off in your Hotel/Riad.
